North Newark Naturals Select Program
Purpose
We are aware that there are select players throughout our league who show excellence in Athletic Skill, Sportsmanship, and Teamwork. Many of them would be able to play baseball for any one of the travel programs around the area. The NNLL Board of Directors designed this program to keep NNLL a strong and thriving rec league by providing many of our players’ opportunities throughout the regular season for advanced development and competition while keeping them in our league. Keeping strong players engaged and in our league raises the level of play for the rest of the league.
We do not pay our coaches, we don't pocket any profits, and we don't fill our rosters with kids just because they can write a check. As a program under North Newark Little League, we are a true community baseball organization, focused on what is right for your kid, NOT a coach's glory or our trophy case.
Our focus is giving kids the ability to play baseball in their community, WITHOUT the high prices, or trophy chasing pressures of travel baseball.
Each year we will reset the North Newark Naturals rosters by holding annual player evaluations and coaches selection. The Naturals' teams will be based on the 4/30 birthdate. A player playing in a higher division as an age exception (May-August) can play on the age appropriate team if selected (example: 10yr old playing Varsity with a May birthday is still eligible for 10U).
Eligibility
• In order to qualify for one of our select teams, a player MUST be a rostered NNLL player and be assigned to a regular season team and play on that team as their first priority.
• Players must tryout for the team at the annually scheduled tryout.
• Must meet all the age requirements, as applicable for that season's team.
• Must pay all appropriate North Newark rec league and North Newark Naturals registration fees in full.
